The Catch Meter

The Madden 27 catch meter is a visual timing bar for the game’s new timing-based catching system that determines whether your receiver secures or drops a pass.

How the Catch Meter Works

• Green Zone: Landing your release or button timing here results in an automatic, highly reliable catch.
• Yellow Zone: Success depends on your receiver’s stats and defender coverage.
• Red Zone: Results in a dropped pass or incompletion regardless of receiver separation.

Catch Types and Controls

You can trigger different catch animations using specific controller inputs as the ball approaches:

• Possession Catch: Press X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) to secure the ball in traffic or near the sideline.
• Run After Catch (RAC): Press Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox) for open field speed.
• Aggressive Catch: Press Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox) for deep contested jump balls.
• Spectacular Catch: Hold L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) for risky one-handed grabs
