Week 1 of the season is upon us. Stukid has high aspirations for the Cleveland Browns this season. They start the year off ranked #1 in the Soden Bowl Power Rankings and open against a formidable Chiefs team with Patrick Mahomes leading the way.
The Browns looked to maintain the offensive momentum, as Baker Mayfield hoped to start on the right foot. He moved the ball efficiently, but bad decisions in the red zone on 3 occasions kept the Chiefs in the game. He ended with 281yds, 2 TDs 4 INTs. Nick Chubb got going in the 2nd half, ending with 104yds from scrimmage and a TD. Jed Newsome showed he’s a true #1 with 142yds and 1 TD. Overall, a sporadic day for the offense.
The Defense? One Word: DOMINANT. They put on a show, as they held Patrick Mahomes to the lowest passing total if his career: 57yds and a 9.0 rating. Yep… 9.0. We wondered who’d be the other CB to step up this season opposite Ward, and in this game it was Greedy Williams. He had 3 INTs and a TD. Delpit has shown his preseason was no fluke, getting an INT as well. The lone issue this game for the Browns was allowing big runs, as they got gashed twice for gains leading to a 100yd day for the Chiefs ground game. But points are what matter, and they only allowed 1 TD.
Solid week 1.
Improvement needed everywhere.
