Davey’s Top Rookies – Week 1

The 114th season of Soden Bowl is officially in the books, this season features one of the deepest drafts in Soden Bowl history. This translates into a lot of rookie players getting virtual game time. This segment will feature rookies and only rookies in a weekly writeup.

1. Malik Willis (QB) Atlanta Falcons drafted with the 26th pick in the draft by Phil03, I witnessed his success first hand as he dismantled my Giants defense all game long. Willis finished the day completing 77% of his passes for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. That is a rating of 139.2 and a fantasy score 22.1 ranking Willis in the top 10 quarterback fantasy players for the week.

2. David Elway (QB) Cincinnati Bengals drafted in the 5th round by Ohio Bengal, Elway fell in the draft due to his pre-combine issues. A lot of scouts passed on Elway even though his grandfather is a Hall of Fame quarterback. Elway in week one led the Bengals to a 42-21 victory throwing for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns completing 90% of his passes for a rating of 139.3 and a fantasy score of 25.6.

3. Rod Woodson II (CB) Cincinnati Bengals drafted with the 5th pick in the draft by Ohio Bengal, this playmaker was elevated from special teams star to starting cornerback in his senior year. Displaying outstanding speed and acceleration in a 6′ 3″ frame instantly makes him a threat on the defense. Woodson finished week one with 5 tackles and 2 interceptions and a fantasy score of 9.

4. Isaiah Spiller (HB) Houston Texans drafted in the 2nd round of the draft by Dreal32117, Spiller has a great balance of speed and size. That speed and size was on full display in week one as the rookie rushed for 146 yards on 21 attempts and a touchdown. That is 7 yards per carry and a first down on average every two carries. Spiller also grabbed 4 receptions for an additional 31 yards – fantasy score of 25.7.

5. Leonard Coates (TE) Los Angeles Rams drafted late in the second round of the draft by S S0DEN, Coates is a dynamic player on offense. Standing 6′ 7″ tall and 261 pounds but can accelerate as good as most wide receivers gives this future super star next level ability. Week one Coates caught 3 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown, fantasy score of 23.2 – including this 66 yard bomb.
