The Jags finish up strong in preseason. The Jags won a meaningless preseason game over the Dallas Cowboys 42-39. What is important is how the team played . This team has a mix of youth and vets. It’s not a team filled with depth. Therefore, it’s essential that this mix of youth and veterans gels quickly to get a good start out the gates on the season. Some early wins can go a long way towards reversing the losing trend in Jacksonville . All of that to say the jaguars played respectfully against the saints and cowboys. The defense will somehow need to play better. Both Dallas and New Orleans went up and down the field at will. Dallas had a drive in the 3rd quarter that nearly took the whole quarter. The jags took timeouts to ensure Trevor Lawrence saw the field at least momentarily before the quarter ended. Lawrence… in 5 quarters of play under Coach Blessed’s system was pretty good. He’s a rookie and he threw two bad passes. With this team, the margin of error is 0. He can’t make mistakes . This makes the rookies challenge for this season quite daunting. However. For the preseason, Lawrence completed 84% of his passes . Will he be able to keep up that pace ? He has weapons in the form of Chark, Jones, Shenault, Austin, Agnew and Hollister. The defense , led by Myles Jack, will need to bend… but not break. The jaguars can’t afford to get into shootouts. Coach Blessed is believed to have gotten a better handle on the roster. He’s known for a prolific passing attack. Will he be able to duplicate that success in Jacksonville…and turn those stats into wins? We shall see .
