For some Lions fans, this weeks game may seem like the same old Detroit teams, but to new HC Coach Dan Campbell and new owner Bryant Roberts, they believe this team is different due to one thing, HEART. When Jared Goff threw two pick-6’s to rookie CB Antonio Hanks early in the 1st, all seemed lost, but the Lions some how found a way to soften the loss by losing 23-14. Jared Goff ended the game going 15/21, 130 yards, and 3 INTS. Coach Campbell came out early this week and told the media that this team will have to rely on running back D’Andre Swift and wide receiver Russell Gage Jr, who came over from the Falcons in the preseason. D’Andre Swift ended the game with 16 rushes for 67 yards & 2 TDs, while also hauling in 7 catches for 60 yards, totaling 127 yards total. Russell Gage was the 2nd leading receiver with 5 catches for 55 yards. The defense, led by young shutdown corner Jeff Okudah, was able to hold the 49ers to 9 total offensive points and not breaking in the red-zone. Okudah and Oruwariye each snagged a INT off of young QB Trey Lance, while Alex Anzalone led both teams with 5 solo tackels and 5 assisted. Both teams OLs protected the QB by only giving up a sack each.
The Lions(0-1) hope to get win #1 next week as they travel to the frozen tundra to play their rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
