Season 111 ended with a COVID-19 twist after 6 weeks of the regular season. Coach S S0DEN had his Patriots in first place (5-1) after a huge win over the then undefeated Dallas Cowboys. S S0DEN had to take the rest of the season off to get healthy again and the Patriots were forced to miss the playoffs and really the rest of the season.
Season 112, week 1 marks the return for Coach Soden – the Patriots led by second year quarterback Mac Jones hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers Friday night. Mac Jones and company roared out to a quick 14-0 lead thanks to Cameron McGrone’s back to back interceptions. The young linebacker recorded 2 interceptions, a tackle for a loss and a quarterback sack on the day.
Mac Jones was able to connect with Jonnu Smith for a 47 yard touchdown pass to start the scoring, Smith broke the ankles of the Steelers defender with the games best juke move. Mac Jones later connected with wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on a 67 yard bomb down the sidelines for a touchdown.
The Steelers did get some pressure on Mac Jones and the Patriots turned the ball over 3 times, 2 of them for touchdowns. The Patriots hold on with a 20-14 win, kicker Quinn Nordin drilled two field goals and the defense recorded 5 turnovers in the win. Next week the Patriots will be tested as they face the MrWitness36-led Cleveland Browns.
