Iamrico was the odd man out in the Madden NFL 22 Team Selection draft, he had the very last pick in the draft. With the 32nd pick he was handed the Houston Texans. Although the Texans are not ranked the lowest team in the game, they did lose a lot of talented players the last couple years. Players such as Watt, Hopkins, Fuller and Cobb make a roster that is not so good looking from outside.
Now that all that dust has settled from the stampede of team selections in the draft, the Texans actually are not that bad of a selection. Hear me out on this one and let me flash a little “Gold Jacket” team building wisdom your way. Let’s assume Deshaun Watson stays with the Texans when the league launches 9.20.2021, that is a quarterback better than 88% of the rest of the leagues starting quarterbacks.
Brandon Cooks is the premier receiver (85 overall) with a solid 93 speed, he can stretch the defense and force the other teams top cornerback to respect his down field ability. The once Denver Bronco star and speedy Phillip Lindsay is roaming the backfield with David Johnson and Mark Ingram II. That’s a solid trio of backs that can run around you or run over you.
Keke Coutee to me is a rising star, with 91 speed and some solid ball carrier attributes this receiver could have a break out season for Iamrico opposite Brandon Cooks and Chris Conley. Tight End Jordan Akins is impressive with 87 acceleration – his ability to simply get open off play action is something this team could use a lot.
Defense, defense, defense – the loss of J.J Watt is a tough one. This also opens up a lot of salary room for next offseason and a potential big time pass rusher. Shaq Lawson, Zach Cunningham and Whitney Mercilus have the potential to provide a good trio of pressure that could keep other teams off balance. Bradley Roby, Desmond King II and Justin Reid have big play potential on the back end of a defense that could be ranked a lot higher. Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins has a real shot to earn a spot on this defense and progress as one of the leagues better athletic tackles.
The Houston Texans are actually in good position for the league, they have the ability to spend some cash in the offseason, they have a young, playmaker quarterback and some solid weapons in the passing game. If anything Madden NFL 21 has shown us that a good running game with multiple backs in a key to success – this Texans team has 3 solid running backs who each have a unique flavor for this teams running game.
Watch out AFC South, the stampede is coming from Houston and Iamrico has the ability to compete and the ability to improve this roster quickly.
